As the year comes to a close, we at Paint Club want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support. It is solely your passion and support that encourages us in our endeavour to make water-soluble encaustic, one of the most ancient and stunningly beautiful paint mediums, available to all.

Water-soluble Encaustics keeps continuing its path to reclaim its well deserved place along oil and acrylics, thanks to the Herculean efforts of the Cuní family to bring this long forgotten medium back to the front.

It took renowned Spanish artist Jose Cuni half a century to unlock the mystery of the evasive formula of the paint used by ancient Greek and Roman artists. While on a scholarship in Naples to study the Pompeiian wall paintings in the 60s, he found a lead among the traditional stuccoists in the Naples area. In 1962, Cuní developed the formulation of the water-soluble encaustic based on beeswax and soap, confirming its outstanding quality and capacity to reproduce the execution features that characterize Roman wall paintings. In 2015 his sons took up the baton to produce this historically important paint, and it is thanks to them that water-soluble Encaustic is slowly reclaiming its deserved place  among other paint mediums.
